Itinerary
Please note that exact timings and order of activities are subject to change, based on the local conditions at the time – The beauty of wild camping is that the plans can be loose to allow for uncontrollable factors such as the weather.
- Meet outside Euston Railway Station and take a relaxing train journey to The Lake District and, depending on the weather, we will have a short trip briefing and head out for a short night walk in to the hills on a journey to our first camping spot.
- Pack away the tent and head away on another journey to our second camping spot (perhaps a spot of wild swimming?)
- Pack away the tent for our final journey back to the minibus for the return train journey home.
Accommodation (we provide 1-person tents, warm sleeping bags and sleeping mats)
2-days/2-nights guided hiking by an experienced and qualified mountain leader
All food, from breakfast on Saturday, to lunch on Sunday
Return train travel from London
Transfers in The Lake District
This is a wild camping trip, so we will be staying in tents. Don’t worry about the weather. Putting up/down a tent in the rain isn’t everyone’s idea of fun, so we have contingency plans in place to maintain the wilderness experience, whatever the weather!
Your minimum kit list should be:
- Large rucksack (minimum 65 litres)
- Sleeping Bag
- Sleeping Mat
- Camping cup (for tea/coffee)
- Camping bowl & Cutlery (for breakfast/dinner)

Note: The weather and ground conditions will not be known until closer to the date and full winter conditions, whilst expected at this time of year, cannot be guaranteed. The trip will go ahead regardless of conditions (The only exception being if the prevailing weather is too dangerous e.g. Thunderstorms)

I had a fantastic weekend wild camping in The Lake District with City Mountaineering. Katie was a wonderful guide, and the food, morning coffee, and cake were lovely touches. Each walk was about 10 km, making for a relaxed weekend with bright and sunny weather. I will definitely go again with City Mountaineering.

It was my second trip with City Mountaineering and I look forward to booking my next trip with them. We spent a weekend wild camping in the Lake District, our host Katie is amazing, such a great energy and so knowledgeable. She loves sharing skills so we got to learn about navigation, flora of the place and lots of tips for future adventures. I can’t recommend City Mountaineering highly enough, the organisation from Stu is unmatchable, great communication with all the information you will need, the food while camping (we even had dessert), overall is just an amazing experience. THANK YOU SO MUCH Stu, Katie and team.

Dave, Stuart and Ben are great mountain leaders and I had a good time hiking with them in the Lake District this weekend. I specially liked the fact that we wild camped Friday night to wake up to a beautiful view of the mountains and the lake. The food was delicious, and the treats were a nice touch.
