Looking for unforgettable winter hiking trips in the UK? We run guided winter hikes every day throughout the winter season, giving you total flexibility to choose the dates that suit you—weekends, weekdays, or a full week-long adventure. If you want to explore the UK’s mountains at their most dramatic and atmospheric, winter is the perfect time to get out there.

Winter completely transforms the UK’s landscapes. Snow-capped peaks, frost-covered valleys and crisp, clear views make winter hiking one of the most rewarding outdoor experiences of the year. Whether you’re aiming to build winter confidence, take on a snowy summit, or simply enjoy a quieter mountain experience, our winter trips cater to all levels.

From Snowdonia and the Lake District to Scotland’s Highlands, our guides know how to find the best (and safest) winter routes on any given day. Their expertise ensures you enjoy a fun, rewarding adventure while staying well within safe winter conditions.

You’re not limited to weekends. Choose a weekday for quieter trails, pick a weekend for a quick escape, or book several consecutive days for a bigger winter challenge. Whatever your schedule, we make it easy to plan the perfect winter hike.

Want to climb a specific mountain under snow? Planning a winter adventure with friends or colleagues? We also offer bespoke winter hiking trips tailored to your goals, experience and ideal dates.

Frequently Asked Questions

Winter skills courses teach you how to move safely and confidently on snow and ice, including techniques and equipment that aren’t required during summer hiking.

Almost all our winter trips are suitable for people new to winter hiking and we teach practical winter skills on all our trips if the snow conditions allow.

We lend everyone a set of crampons, an ice axe and a helmet and we give instruction on how to use them when travelling on the winter mountains. These are all included in the cost of the trip.

We run winter adventures across the whole of Scotland, from Ben Lomond in the south, to Torridon and Sutherland in the north. Most of our skills courses take place in The Cairngorms National Park, but we will always travel to the areas with the best snow/ice. We also run winter trips in Snowdonia and the Lake District.

Your guide considers weather, snow conditions, avalanche risk, daylight, fitness and group experience before choosing the safest appropriate route.
