Frequently Asked Questions
Yes. Wild camping is permitted in Scotland under the Scottish Outdoor Access Code, while in England and Wales we camp responsibly, follow leave-no-trace principles and only where permitted.
All essential camping equipment is provided (tent, sleeping bag and sleeping mat) however you are welcome to bring your own if you have them. We also provide a group stove, gas and water filter on our wild camp trips.
Our guides have many years of experience of hiking and wild camping in the UK. If we deem the adventure unsafe prior to departure, we will cancel the trip and offer a full refund. During the trip your guide will monitor weather and conditions and will adapt the route, campsite or itinerary when necessary.
The landscapes, access arrangements and camping locations differ, but all trips focus on small groups, responsible camping and guided mountain experiences.
Absolutely. Our guided trips are suitable for first-time wild campers, with your guide helping you with camping, equipment and mountain safety. Wild camping trips are a bit tougher than standard day-hikes as you will be required to carry a heavier pack, so a reasonable level of fitness and experience of hiking in the mountains with a day pack is expected.
There are generally no toilets or showers at wild camp sites. When toileting in the wild it is important to
a) find a suitable location for privacy;
b) bury or carry out any waste; and
c) use a location away from water and tracks.
Your guide will explain responsible toileting and hygiene practices during the trip.
