This is a tough challenge that is aimed at people with excellent mountain fitness.

This trip is limited to a small group of just 8 people, supported by qualified and experienced mountain leaders.

Itinerary

  • Optional: Meet outside Euston train station and board The Caledonian Sleeper train for an overnight journey to The Scottish Highlands (bed in a twin-share, single-sex room)

  • Meet your guide outside Fort William train station at 10am for a trip briefing before heading out on your first day of the challenge: The Aonachs!
  • Follow the well-defined path as it winds its way up the slopes of Aonach Mor and on to Aonach Beag, offering stunning views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
  • Reaching the summit of Aonach Beag you can soak in the panoramic vistas of the Nevis Range and beyond before retracing your steps back to the awaiting transport.
  • At the end of the day you will check-in to your accommodation and head out for a well-earned pub dinner.

  • After an early breakfast you will be transported to the north side of Ben Nevis.
  • You will trek up through the forest on good tracks, away from the crowds, before heading off track and up the steep slopes of Carn Mor Dearg.
  • After reaching the summit, the exhilarating Carn Mor Dearg Arete comes in to view, a narrow ridge linking Carn Mor Dearg to Ben Nevis.
  • You will traverse the dramatic Carn Mor Dearg Arete, taking in the sheer drops and breathtaking scenery on either side before tackling the final steep climb to the highest point in the UK: Ben Nevis!
  • You will then descend down the ‘standard track’ back to the waiting transport for the return to Fort William for dinner.
  • Optional: Board The Caledonian Sleeper train at 7pm for a relaxing journey to London/Birmingham/Crewe. The train is scheduled to arrive at London Euston around 8am on Monday

Note: The weather and ground conditions will not be known until closer to the date and full winter conditions, whilst expected at this time of year, cannot be guaranteed.  The trip will go ahead regardless of conditions (The only exception being if the prevailing weather is too dangerous e.g. Thunderstorms)
